Black Sheep Beautiful

This is a family portrait. Grandparents, children, grandchildren – and the two dogs! This collector masterfully compiled videos of every family member (including the grandchildren’s voices at several ages!). From those videos we created this family portrait by capturing the color of each family member’s voice. 

The Father’s voice is terra cotta orange and bright azure blue.  Mother’s voice is mandarin orange with an edge of sky blue.  Their son’s young voice is bright orange, and tracks toward his father’s colors in his present voice, which is still orange but edged in terra cotta.  Their daughter’s young voice is Halloween orange and lavender.  Her present voice is lemon yellow.  The grandfather is sage green around shades of yellow: goldenrod, Velveeta, and sunshine.  Grandmother is deep ruby and strawberry red.  Their first dog’s bark is shades of red: strawberry, brick, and blood.  Their second dog’s bark is pinky-red.  The third dog’s bark is true orange. 

We created a large painting to hang in the hallway, and a very small one to place in the kitchen. This collector also asked to keep the annotated swatch that I originally created to show them their colors.
