This painting is a portrait of a dearly loved departed brother and son. The recording I worked from was of this man speaking at a fundraising event for a special foundation. Being on a microphone always changes the appearance of a person’s voice slightly. Gray here is the inescapable fuzzy background sound, and the deeper colors are probably attributed to the size of the room. He shared his story of living with a heart defect with humor and honesty, giving me a small view into his extraordinary life. His sibling, who commissioned this painting, called him, “the bravest person I know.”
